The news from OwINews─Li Zhiwen / Kaohsiung

The European Union’s border carbon tax is coming soon and will start to impose constraints on companies’ efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Therefore, in terms of corporate competitiveness, companies that do not make enough effort in ESG will face the impact of tax and cost increase in export. The Southern Joint Service Center of the Executive Yuan held the first “Enterprise Human Resources Elite Pilot Camp” today (28), inviting three experts to talk about the theme of “how to respond to the onset of the ESG wave”, and analyze it through practical lectures.

Mr. Chen said that ESG (ENVIRONMENT, SOCIAL, GOVERNANCE) has recently become a trend that is widely valued by all sectors of society and has a profound impact on the competitiveness of enterprises and countries. In fact, companies with better ESG implementation have better ability to raise capital in the capital market. Vice President Hsu said that many SMEs in Taiwan still do not understand the impact of the international net zero trend on Taiwan’s industrial environment, and through the insightful analysis of the three experts, we hope to provide SMEs with more relevant solutions.

In today’s seminar, the Center invited three experts, Mr. Li Shiaobai, Chief of the Small and Medium Enterprise Division, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mr. John Ho, CEO of E-Globaledge Sustainable Design, and Mr. Michael Yang, General Manager of Jiao Shan Engineering, to explain the topics of zero carbon development, building energy management and sustainable energy saving, and the use of ESG to enhance national competitiveness.

Zero emissions is already a global trend, but the recent war between Russia and the U.S. and the continuing epidemic have also affected Russia, one of the major suppliers of natural gas, in terms of global energy supply and progress in achieving carbon reduction targets.

Josun: : I was honored to be invited to be one of the keynote speakers at the Executive Yuan Southern Joint Service Center – Enterprise Human Resource Elite Pilot Camp to promote the ESG concept of system integration and how to effectively apply energy system management tools to assist enterprises in sustainable development and energy planning.
